In a traditional classroom, information is often provided en masse to learners in a passive format, with the expectation that higher-order learning is achieved through self-directed learning. Educators in various subspecialties are incorporating these methods into the curricula for students at all levels, from undergraduate to CME (7). While time at home is spent being initially exposed to the teaching material, face-to-face class time is dedicated to student-centered activities promoting active learning, under the supervision of a facilitator (2). The learners are free to review the materials at their own pace and must be engaged in their learning process (6). The flipped classroom, also labelled as reverse, inverse, or backwards classroom (4), is probably the most used among the active learning approaches (Figure 1).

Integration of Virtual Reality (VR) in Patient Training

Empowering Patient Mental Health Education
The model promoted seamless access to treatment by introducing a nurse care manager who collaborated closely with a designated psychiatrist. This was to ensure that the treatment methods were standardized and based on the latest scientific evidence. This aimed at giving patients the tools and knowledge to understand and better navigate their disorder. Patients were equipped with skills to manage their condition through structured group psychoeducation sessions. They explored the efficacy of a collaborative care model for the treatment of bipolar disorder.
In the context of escalating health care costs and shocking future cost projections, the potential for improved health outcomes through patient education and self-management programs is immense. For individual members of our society to realize the benefits of physician health education, there is a need for a robust, hearty engagement between patients and physicians. To improve health care outcomes, physicians must spend more time with patients. We can conclude that nurses working in psychiatric hospitals have different roles in systematic patient education and they are ready and willing to tailor their roles according to patients’ individual needs. With mutual collaboration between primay care interests and psychiatrists the patients of both groups of physicians should receive better care and continuing education of both may occur through an ongoing dialogue. This should include observation of the physician interviewing patients with different types of psychiatric disorders in addition to didactic teaching and supervision on topics such as psychopharmacology.
